An opportunity to explore the versatile art of silkscreen printing in depth.

On this course you will learn new skills and a professional approach to your work.

Guided by your very experienced tutor this course is suitable for all levels from beginners to the accomplished artist. Numbers are kept small (four per class) to allow for individual attention. You will get the chance to develop your ideas a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Starting with the basics you will be shown how to coat, expose and make photographic stencils and then progress to making more complex designs. You will learn registration skills and how to make colour separations to print in layers. There will be time for you to develop your own ideas through the process.

Your tutor will help you to explore ways to produce the positives that are used to make successful photographic stencils that will suit your individual work. These will include hand cut, hand painted ‘old school’ techniques as well as digital ones.

Since screen printing is such a versatile technique this course will appeal to artists from many different disciplines, photography, graphics, illustration and textiles as well as enthusiastic amateurs.

All materials such as inks, stencil emulsion, tape etc. are provided apart from paper
225gsm acid free cartridge can be purchased on site (35p per sheet). More expensive or specialist papers and large format digital printouts (over A3) will be charged separately.

The workshop is well equipped to show you how to work at a professional level and advice will be given about continuing on your own. The studio also functions on an open access basis so those who have attended courses often come back to use the studio independently afterwards. Materials and simple table top equipment will be available into buy in our shop should you wish to invest for the future and work at home, or in your own studio.

All courses may be subject to change or cancellation according to government guidelines. Should this prove necessary refunds or transfers will be given.

We will be taking precautions to safeguard our customers and have made a few changes to help this happen:

• Classes are limited to 3 people.
• Tools and surfaces will be sanitised before and after use and each person will be
designated their own tools to use while they are in the workshop.
• Appropriate PPE, hand sanitiser, viral spray, hand wash etc. will be available for use
in the workshop.
• People should bring their own aprons/overalls, cups, snacks and lunch.
• If you have covid symptoms you should not attend and let us know refunds or
alternative arrangements can be made.
